Personal ‘Safe Place’ Counseling

Recognizing the stigma

As a First Responder herself who had to find help, Natalie knows only too well about the stigma surrounding Personal Counseling and the concerns shared by many individuals who bravely asked for help.

What is Personal Counseling?

Personal counseling, also known as individual therapy, is a supportive and confidential process where you work one-on-one with a trained mental health professional. In this safe and caring environment, you can openly share your difficulties and painful emotions. Together with your counselor, you’ll explore the root causes of these emotions and develop effective strategies to manage and cope with them.

How does it work?

Therapists are skilled in recognizing common emotional challenges. Once trust is established, many clients feel a sense of relief simply by sharing their problems with someone who truly understands. Your therapist will help you develop healthy coping strategies and address any unhealthy habits, like substance use or other addictions, that might be affecting you. They can also identify underlying mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, or trauma and recommend appropriate treatment options tailored to your needs.

Isn’t getting therapy a sign of weakness?

Quite the opposite—seeking therapy is a sign of courage, maturity, and strength. Facing your challenges head-on requires bravery. Anxiety, depression, and unresolved issues are natural parts of life, and acknowledging these feelings is an important act of self-care and self-respect. Getting help shows that you are taking control of your well-being, which is a powerful step toward healing.

How long does therapy take to work?

The length of therapy varies for each person because everyone’s situation and experiences are unique. While some mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction are common, everyone experiences them differently. Therapy is tailored to fit your individual needs, allowing you to receive the most appropriate support. The process may take time, but it’s designed to help you at your own pace, ensuring that you get the most out of each session.

Some people begin to feel relief early in the process, simply by connecting with someone who understands what they’re going through. In the initial sessions, you and your counselor will work together to set clear objectives for your therapy and create a plan to achieve them. This collaborative approach ensures that your therapy is focused on your specific goals and needs, helping you find the relief and progress you’re seeking.

What days are available for sessions?

The personal counseling sessions are available Thursday thru Sunday.

How much doet it cost?

A 50-minute Telehealth session is $100. Natalie does not accept insurance.

Will anyone know that I have been getting therapy?

Personal counseling is confidential. Your therapist must maintain confidentially about everything said in session between the two of you, just like a doctor is required to keep your records private. While there are laws and regulation stop protect your privacy confidentiality is also a crucial part of psychology code of ethics. They means that your therapist understands from the very beginning that you to feel comfortable sharing openly with them you ned to know your information is safe.
